Project 4: Prototyping & Evaluation

Image
Project 4 focuses on evaluating the usability and effectiveness of the OraPlan high-fidelity prototype through structured user testing. In this phase, we aimed to validate whether the design decisions made in earlier stages successfully support users in managing their time, maintaining focus, and handling task reminders. A functional prototype was developed using Figma and tested with real users to simulate realistic interactions and workflows, allowing us to observe how the system performs in practical use rather than theoretical scenarios. Usability testing was conducted with six participants representing three key target user groups: university students, fresh graduates, and freelancers. Participants were asked to complete three core tasks-hourly task scheduling, activating Focus Mode, and managing task reminders-while using the think-aloud method. Their interactions were screen-recorded, and feedback was collected through direct observation and post-test Google Form respon...

Project 3: Conceptual & Physical Design

Image
Project 3 focuses on translating user needs and task analysis into a clear conceptual and physical design for OraPlan , a smart time management assistant. In this phase, we concentrated on how users understand and interact with the system rather than just what features it provides. By developing a strong conceptual model supported by suitable interaction metaphors, the design aims to reduce confusion, lower cognitive load, and help users visualize their time more effectively. Key features such as hourly task scheduling, focus mode, and task reminders were structured to align with real-world user behavior and mental models. The interface design applies Human-Computer Interaction principles , particularly Gestalt principles and Shneiderman’s Golden Rules, to ensure usability and consistency. Task scheduling is designed around a container-based metaphor, allowing users to treat time as a limited space that can be filled with tasks through direct manipulation. Focus Mode introduces a simpl...

Project 2- Establishing Requirement

Image
Our group PR05 (@404 user NOT found) is proud to share the second phase of our project, which is Establishing Requirements by performing User Analysis, Task Analysis and User Observation . Project 2 focuses on understanding how users actually manage their time , identifying usability issues in existing tools, and translating those findings into meaningful design insights that will guide the development of our proposed solution. In this project, we focus on the following key areas: *Problem Statement: We identified common challenges faced by users such as poor time management, difficulty maintaining focus due to constant distractions and the complexity of existing productivity applications. Many tools require excessive manual steps or only address one aspect of productivity and leading to inefficiency and frustration. *User Analysis & Personas: To better understand these issues, we conducted a detailed user analysis and developed three representative personas: a university studen...

Project 1: Proposal

Image
Our group PR05 (@404 user NOT found) is proud to present our Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) proposal titled OraPlan: Your Smart Time-Management Assistant . In this proposal, we focus on three main parts: * Problem Statement:   We identified common issues faced by students and professionals such as poor time management, lack of focus, and complicated existing apps. * Proposed Solutions:   We suggest designing a simple, user-friendly, and motivating time management app. OraPlan will include features like smart scheduling, reminders, and focus mode to help users plan their time effectively. * Target Users:   Our app is mainly designed for university students, early-career professionals, and freelancers who need better tools to manage tasks and maintain productivity. 📄 You can read the full proposal here: Proposal: OraPlan

Hey! We're 404 user NOT found ! Our group name, " 404 user NOT found " is inspired by the familiar internet error message "404 not found". We choose this name because it creatively reflects both our connection to technology and our focus on user experience, which are central themes in HCI.  The phrase humorously represents the challenges designers face when systems fail to understand user needs, reminding us of the importance of designing intuitive and user-centred interfaces. This name also shows that we value creativity, innovation, and teamwork insolving interaction problems between humans and computers. Stay tuned for our next update! @404 user NOT f☹und
